IYENGAR YOGA CLASSES
WITH DÖRTHE BRAUN AND RAINA FISHBANE

In the weekly online and in-person asana classes, students are led through a sequence that will energize the body and calm the mind. New poses are introduced and familiar poses will be deepened and improved. In all classes, a variety of standing poses, forward and backward extensions, seated, twisted and balance poses are taught. The mixed level and intermediate/advanced classes include inversions, but alternatives are given for students who are not doing inversions.

 

Each student is working to his or her own capacity. The aim is not to achieve the most advanced pose, but to create a deeper understanding and awareness of the body and its correct alignment, the breath and the mind.

It is helpful to have the following props for your home practice, but we will give ideas for suitable alternatives if the props are not available: a mat, a belt, 2 blocks, three blankets, a bolster and a chair.
