With a long break between two closely held meetings and lots of hot weather in the DC area, it seems so long since our last meeting. Continuing with our journey through Light on Life and finally to the innermost of the kosas, we move to the anandamaya kosa (blissful body). The blissful body is the most subtle yet complex of the kosa we have explored – it is the culmination of the work and intelligence garnered through the outer layers. This movement of the consciousness into the anandamaya kosa leads to kaivalya (liberation), also the name of the 4th pada of the sūtras.
Please read Chapter 6 in Light on Life and look through your copies of the Yoga Sūtras. If you have access to The Core of the Yoga Sutras check out chapters 9 and 10 for a more in depth discussion of the movement of consciousness towards liberation. Some of the key concepts that we will be discussing on Thursday are the klesa – afflictions, prakriti – nature, gunas – qualities of nature, samadhi – full absorption/enlightenment, and kaivalya – liberation.
What sūtras can you relate to this chapter?
Stay cool out there and we look forward to seeing you on Thursday 27 July!
